Four people drown in Indus River as chairlift cable breaks in Diamer district

At least four men drowned in the Indus River when a chairlift cable broke in Samar Nullah area of Diamer district on Friday evening, it has been learnt.

Giving details, DPO Abdul Aziz Afridi informed media persons that four men were going back to their houses after offering Jumma prayers in Tangir area of Gilgit Baltistan. They sat on the chairlift connecting the Tangir valley area of Diamer District with the rest, but it broke halfway.

A statement issued by Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) on Friday carried a warning for all TV channels against airing unverified news or analysis themed around the Pakistan Army or its relationship with the civilian government.

Pemra, in its latest statement, made it clear that all news and current affairs TV channels, including its employees, panellists and anchorpersons, shall not divulge in discussing unverified news or analysis pertaining to the country’s civil-military relations without confirmation from the concerned institution.

The content, Pemra maintains, would be especially problematic if it accuses the military of something, tarnishes its ‘image’, or if it encourages anyone to take extra-constitutional measures.

ISLAMABAD: The victims of the Bahria Town/ARY stage collapse incident held a press conference in which they claimed that they reached the hospital on their own.

According to details, the victims of the incident held a presser with social activist Jibran Nasir by their side. One of the affected victims, Wasim Abbas, said that when he reached the venue, the stadium was full. Wassim said that he fell from a height of 25-30 feet when the stage collapsed.

“It was chaos everywhere,” he said. “We went to the hospital for medical treatment on our own,” he added.

MASTUNG: At least 24 people were killed and 35 others were injured in a blast at Balochistan city of Mastung on Friday, Samaa reported.

According to details, the protocol of Deputy Chairman Senate Abdul Ghafoor Hyderi was passing through the area when the blast took place.

The deputy chairman senate also reportedly sustained ordinary injuries in the blast. Speaking with Samaa TV, he said that he was fine.

Several vehicles were also destroyed in the terrorist attack.
